1. Here is an interesting trick to check divisibility of any number by number 3. A number is divisible by three if the sum of its digits is divisible by three (3).



2. The = sign ("equals sign") was invented by 16th Century Welsh mathematician Robert Recorde, who was fed up with writing "is equal to" in his equations.

3. Googol (meaning & origin of Google brand ) is the term used for a number 1 followed by 100 zeros and that it was used by a nine-year old, Milton Sirotta, in 1940.

4. The name of the popular search engine ‘Google’ came from a misspelling of the word ‘googol’.

5. Have you ever noticed that the opposite sides a die always add up to seven (7).

6. 12,345,678,987,654,321 is the product of 111,111,111 x 111,111,111. Notice the sequence of the numbers 1 to 9 and back to 1. It also works for smaller numbers: 111 × 111 = 12321.

7. 2 and 5 are the only primes that end in 2 or 5.

8. From 0 to 1,000, the letter "A" only appears in 1,000 ("one thousand").

9. 'FOUR' is the only number in the English language that is spelt with the same number of letters as the number itself.

10. 40 when written "forty" is the only number with letters in alphabetical order, while "one" is the only one with letters in reverse order.

12. If you write out pi to two decimal places, backwards it spells “pie”.

13. The Fibonacci sequence is encoded in the number 1/89. 1/89 = 0.01 + 0.001 + 0.0002 + 0.00003 + 0.000005 + 0.0000008 + 0.00000013 + 0.000000021 + 0.0000000034 etc.

14. A pizza that has radius “z” and height “a” has volume Pi × z × z × a. Because the area of a circle is Pi multiplied by the radius squared (which can be written out as Pi × z × z). Then you multiply by the height to get the total volume.

15. 10! seconds is exactly 6 weeks. 10! means 10 factorial. 10! = 10 × 9 × 8 × 7 × 6 × 5 × 4 × 3 × 2 × 1 = 3628800 seconds. Which is 42 days, or 6 weeks, exactly.

16. 1089 X 9 = 9801

17. Ancient Babylonians did math in base 60 instead of base 10. That's why we have 60 seconds in a minute and 360 degrees in a circle.

18. 2,520 is the smallest number that can be exactly divided by all the numbers 1 to 10.
  • 123 - 45 - 67 + 89 = 100
  • 123 + 4 - 5 + 67 - 89 = 100
  • 123 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 + 8 - 9 = 100
  • 1 + 23 - 4 + 5 + 6 + 78 - 9 = 100

19. Multiplying 21978 by 4 reverses the order of the numbers: 87912

  • 153 = 1^3 + 5^3 + 3^3

21. 6174 is known as Kaprekar's constant.
  • Take any four-digit number, using at least two different digits. 
  • Arrange the digits in descending and then in ascending order to get two four-digit numbers. 
  • Subtract the smaller number from the bigger number. 
  • Go back to step 2 and repeat the process. 
  • The above process, known as Kaprekar's routine, will always reach its fixed point, 6174, in at most 7 iterations.
22. Euler Identity is the most Important Numbers in Mathematics. It is considered an example of mathematical beauty.
  • e^i*pi + 1 = 0 
  • ‘e’ is base of natural logarithm 
  • ‘pi’ is 22/7

23. Zero ( 0 ) is the only number which can not be represented by Roman numerals.

24. Do you know the magic of no. nine (9)? Multiply any number with nine (9 ) and then sum all individual digits of the result (product) to make it single digit, the sum of all these individual digits would always be nine (9).

25. Self number: Self number are integers that cannot be generated by taking some other number and adding its own digits to it.
  • 21 is not a self number, since it can be generated from 15: 15 + 1 + 5 = 21. 
  • But 20 is a self number, since it cannot be generated from any other integer
26. Fibonacci numbers is closely associated with ‘golden ratio’ or ‘Divine ratio’ whose value is equal to 1.618…
  • The larger the Fibonacci numbers, the closer their ratio of last two terms approaches the golden ratio.

27. Properties of Fibonacci number
  • The sum of any ten consecutive Fibonacci numbers is divisible by 11. 
  • Two consecutive Fibonacci numbers do not have any common factor, which means that they are Co-prime or relatively prime to each other

  • The sum of any ten consecutive Fibonacci numbers is divisible by 11.
  • The Fibonacci numbers in the composite-number (i.e., non-prime) positions are also composite numbers.
  • The sum of the first n Fibonacci numbers is equal to the Fibonacci number two further along the sequence minus 1. Mathematically , F1 + F2+F3……..+Fn = Fn+2 -1.
